KTM Motohall Racing Heroes

Sound Design - 14 Channel Custom Spatial Audio Mix

On May 11, 2019, KTM, the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Europe, inaugurated the KTM Motohall. In the context of architecture and brand attributes, leading agency ATELIER BRÜCKNER developed a speed-oriented exhibition design that – together with TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE’s moving audiovisual presentation – offers far more than just a museum visit.

Crowning event of the multimedia exhibition is TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE’s rousing thirteen-minute show of light, sound and film. Floor to ceiling screens and immersive 360-degree projections envelop man and motorcycle in the scenery of racing. The sequences of the film cause an intense racing sensation, literally getting under the audience’s skin by means of editing, projection technology and sound effects.

An emotional highlight is the playback of "Heroes’ Voices", interviews in which KTM’s world champions speak about the challenges and successes of racing – the kind of stories that made the brand’s ready-to-race fascination.

We created a 14-channel mix, under the direction of Daniel Lwowski. With the help of the MNTN Production Suite, a system specifically created for multi-channel sound installations, we were able to do all the sound design, editing and premix in our studio in Berlin Kreuzberg while simulating the 360 degree sound on 8 loudspeakers placed in a circle around the sweet spot. we then adapted and adjusted our mix on site in the KTM Motohall, connected to their multi channel loudspeaker system via the DANTE Audio Network Protocol. To meet the high demands of this vision and sound experience, we even went and recorded KTM motorcycles of different types, on track in Italy and Croatia.

To really enjoy our mix and the whole experience in all its glory, one has to be there in that room her/himself. The Motohall is always worth a trip!
